Lesson types represent the services available to be scheduled. When booking a lesson on the calendar, customers and staff will select from one of the available lesson types.
You should create one lesson type for each of the services offered. For example, you might create a “Single” lesson type and a “Double” lesson type.
Creating a lesson type
In this example, we’ll add a new lesson type.
- In the top right corner, click Site Settings.
- Click Lesson Types.
- Click Add Lesson Type.
- In the Settings section, select the following options.
- Name - This is displayed to customers and staff when scheduling, and to staff when billing. The name cannot be changed once the lesson type is scheduled at least once, in order to preserve historical accuracy of past lessons. If you’d like to change the name later, disable this lesson type and create a new one.
- Description - This is displayed to customers and staff when scheduling.
- Duration - This is the number of minutes that lessons are scheduled for. For lessons longer than an hour, enter a number greater than 60. For example, if this lesson lasts an hour and a half, enter 90. The duration cannot be changed once the lesson type is scheduled at least once. If you’d like to change the duration later, disable this lesson type and create a new one.
- Break Duration - This is the number of minutes after the lesson that will always be empty.
- Booking Permissions - Sets which categories of customers are allowed to book this lesson type. Customers who do not have permission will not see this lesson type listed when scheduling a lesson.
- In the Resources section, select whether this lesson type uses a resource when scheduled.
- In the Coaches section, select which coaches may have this lesson type scheduled on their calendar. This setting is enforced for both staff and customers.
- Click Add Lesson Type.
Create additional lesson types
Repeat the steps above for each additional lesson type you wish to add.
Editing a lesson type
After you create a lesson type, you may edit it later.
- Go to Site Settings and then click Lesson Types.
- Next to the lesson type you wish to modify, click Edit.
- Enter the new settings.
- Click Save Changes.
Some options, such as the name, may be locked from editing if the lesson type has already been scheduled on the calendar. To change these options, disable the existing lesson type and create a new one instead.
Disable or delete
If you are no longer using a lesson type for scheduling or billing, then you can disable or delete it.
- Disabling the lesson type will hide it from all new scheduling and billing operations. New lessons cannot be scheduled. Existing lessons can still be billed, however automatic invoice pricing will be removed, and prices will have to be entered manually.
- Deleting the lesson type will remove it permanently. This option is not available if the lesson type is used by any lessons, invoices, or package types.
Disabling or deleting a lesson type
- From the Lesson Types page, click Edit next to the lesson type.
- Click Disable or Delete at the bottom of the page.
- Click either Disable Lesson Type or Delete Lesson Type.
